The visit comes after the first face-to-face government talks between the Chinese Premier and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz since the COVID-19 outbreak in June, during which the two countries’ representatives expressed their willingness to strengthen cooperation on low-carbon development and the transition to accelerating towards a more climate-friendly economy. As Beijing and Berlin continue to work together on issues such as reducing industrial carbon emissions, doubling down on efforts to shift to climate-friendly mobility and building a circular economy, there will be new opportunities for the two companies to build on their twenty-year partnership, to drive innovation in renewable technologies and healthcare.
Since acquiring Westinghouse Electric more than two decades ago, Siemens has been a key partner of Shanghai Electric in the energy sector. The two companies are jointly developing clean, efficient power solutions in a joint venture, Shanghai Electric Power Generation Equipment.
