Shall We Dance Season 5: Episode 5 Review and Rankings

FORNEBU/OSLO (Se og Hør): Saturday evening it is finally ready for the fifth episode of this year’s “Shall we dance” season.

Last week it was politician Hadia Tajik who had to give thanks, and thus ten participants became nine.

The competition continues in full swing, and tonight’s theme is “Fight Night”.

Just as with previous broadcasts, professional dancer and former “Skal vi danse” profile Lillian Aasebø will roll the dice on the dances that are delivered on the dance floor.

Last week, Aasebø allowed himself to be impressed by artist Alexandra Joner and gave her a six. Joner also got a full pot from the judges.

Who tops the points list during the “Kampkeld” broadcast remains to be seen.

The first couple out are Ulrikke Brandstorp and Tarjei Svalastog. They will dance a boogie woogie to the song “Jump, Jive an’ Wail” by The Brian Setzer Orchestra.

Aasebø has the following to say about the implementation:

– High show factor! Crazy dancing joy. I was blown away with Ulrikke! This is how to open tonight’s episode. You master quick basic steps, interaction with a partner and outside, which is super entertaining. You make it look so easy and it was a joy to watch.

The next pair out are Stig-Andre Berge and Norunn Ringvoll. The pair impressed last week and got a full dice roll of five from Aasebø.

This week they will dance a boogie woogie to Choo Choo Ch’Boogie by Chris Daniels & The Kings.

– Well done, where you master this dance surprisingly well! You’re up to some crazy tricks – impressive! It’s match night…and I see that Ulrikke is lighter and more rhythmic in the dance. There are so many “few rules” that apply to the performance, so that the rhythmic part counts strongly for me in this genre.

The third couple to swing on the floor are Christer Rødseth and Ida Sun.

The duo, who ended in a dance duel last weekend, will dance a commercial street to the song About Damn Time by Lizzo. During the dance, the partners also shared an ever so small kiss.

– My God, you are just so incredibly charming. Incredibly cool to see that you are actually benefiting! This genre probably doesn’t come naturally to you. Not sure if it “layed” on the TV screen, but you seemed to be out of step several times in the choreography, wish your movements were more flexible with some isolations in the body would have been nice to see.

The evening’s second commercial street is danced by Aslak Maurstad and Marianne Sandaker. They will swing to Cuff It by Beyonce.

They are given the following dice roll by Aasebø:

– You have swag, Aslak! It’s wonderful to see you out on the dance floor! There was a “Sasha Fiece” in you and I loved it! You are sharp and precise, and lots of nice movements. Of course it also gets a little stiff here and there, but wow, what a show!

The fifth couple on the dance floor is Selma Ibrahim and Santino Mirenna. They dance the evening’s first flamenco to the song Malaguena by Brian Setzer.

Aasebø gives the duo the following roll of the dice:

– Seductive, and you give a lovely bodily expression that fits in a Flamenco. I love the look on your face, and your empathy – it’s clear you’ve really immersed yourself in the character. I totally get the Catherine Zeta Jones “feeling” in Zorro! Unfortunately, I wish your legs were among the compliments. They weren’t pretty and your upper body collapsed a bit in some parts of the dance.

Myra Tucker and Jørgen Nilsen also dance a flamenco in tonight’s broadcast.

They dance to the song Tamacun by Rodrig y Gabriela.

– It was a powerful flamenco with great poses. It was precise, both fine cooperation and handiwork. To my taste, I would have liked to see a mixture of this lovely sensitivity, the proud moment and the seductively calm gaze – this would have made it more interesting.

After an ever so short break, it’s Harlem Alexander and Helene Spilling’s turn to take up the dancing shoes.

They will dance a bhangra to the song Mundian To Bach Ke by Panjabi MC.

The last couple to swing on the dance floor during tonight’s broadcast are Alexandra Joner and Ole Thomas Hansen.

– Good energy, precise in the steps! Incredibly synchronous, – it’s not that easy! Insanely good work! It makes me happy to look at you, but again I want a little more show factor, a little more flirting and a twinkle in the eye. With Bhangra, you could certainly challenge your facial expression as this dance allows it.

The duo danced their way up last week with their cha-cha-cha. Tonight they embark on a bhangra to the song Jogi by Punjabi MC.

– The spirit of joy and community is what’s great about Bhangra! You express exactly this from head to toe! You have a movement and a rhythm in your body that makes it wonderful to watch. You radiate with real good energy that radiates through the camera and straight home!
