‘Shall we Dance’ Recap: Surprising Elimination and Impressive Performances in Episode 6

GATEWAY STUDIO / FORNEBU (Nettavisen): On Saturday evening, the sixth broadcast of “Shall we dance” went off the air, and the evening’s theme was “my secret”.

The seven remaining contestants gave it their all on the dance floor, showing both playfulness and vulnerability as they revealed their secrets through dance.

To the great cheers of the viewers, but two of the dance couples were unable to convince all the viewers with their efforts on the dance floor.

For the third time, Selma Ibrahim (28) was in the danger zone and ended up in a dance duel with Myra Tucker (28). It was the former who had to see themselves eliminated from the dance competition.

Online newspaper’s “Shall we dance” commentator Maria Ludvigsen is surprised by the result:

– Myra should have smoked. Selma has had greater development and is more exciting. But I understand that just tonight, people are voting for the story, and not for the dance, says Ludvigsen.

– Got used to duels

After six programs and three dance duels, the dance adventure is over for Ibrahim and dance partner Santino Mirenna.

– Of course it’s hard to fail and I wish I could be even better, but I’m insanely proud of what we’ve achieved. And I am very proud of what Santino has managed to get me to do, says Ibrahim to Nettavisen.

– It had been absolutely wonderful to get to know Selma. She works so hard and she’s so dedicated, plus she’s super funny. I am happy that I have her as a friend, says Mirenna.

However, the fact that the dance couple ended up in a duel again did not come as the biggest surprise, and the 28-year-old says that they have become well used to being in the danger zone.

– We got used to it, we thought every broadcast that we were going to a duel. But then we got a lot of votes, and if it hadn’t been for all those who voted for us, we would have ended up in another programme, says Ibrahim.

– Must debrief

As mentioned, Nettavisen’s “Shall we dance” commentator, Maria Ludvigsen, believed that it was the wrong person who went out on Saturday night. She was really impressed by Ibrahim and Mirenna’s tango.

– I see that, in terms of dance technique, there is a lot to go on. BUT I DON’T KNOW THAT! Because this is so good in every other way. I enjoyed myself and completely forgot about time and place. I was fired up, eager and enthusiastic. That’s what dance is supposed to do to us. You made it happen. This is incredibly good. Your very best dance, Selma! I blush, cheer, stare and just think: DAMN THE SOUTH, SO FAR YOU’VE COME. What a journey you have had. Roll of the dice seven on development, wrote Ludvigsen in his comment on Saturday evening.

Now the old and familiar everyday life awaits, and the 28-year-old makes no secret of the fact that there will be an adjustment.

– It has become a habit to turn up at the dance center every day, so I don’t know what we will come up with now.

– We can go for a walk in the park tomorrow and debrief a bit, Santino, she adds.

Surprising start

The evening started with a bang when former “Skal vi danse” participant, Fritz Aanes (45) was suddenly on the dance floor again.

He had to withdraw in the third program of the season as a result of a fracture, and was told to use crutches for four weeks.

However, he felt much more alert on Saturday evening, and told Nettavisen that he is on the road to recovery. At least he was in good enough shape to be Stig-André Berge’s background dancer for the Backstreet Boys.

It was also a bittersweet moment for the former wrestler:

– It was actually me who was supposed to dominate with the Backstreet Boys. I had intended to knock out Stig-André in a duel and take away the dream of the Backstreet Boys, but unfortunately I only became a background dancer this time, says Aanes.

In addition, wrestler and “Forræder” current Morten Thoresen was also one of Berge’s background dancers. It turned out to be a tougher challenge than he had imagined.

– There was so much pressure, I was really nervous even though there were only four steps I had to learn, said a laughing Thoresen.

This is what the participants in program six danced:

Stig-André and Norunn – Salsa to “Everybody” by the Backstreet Boys

Selma and Santino – Tango to “Confident” by Demi Lovato

Ulrikke and Tarjei – Tango to “Highway To Hell” by ACDC

Harlem and Helene – Rumba to “When the snow melts” by Astrid S

Alexandra and Ole Thomas – Salsa to “Maria” by Ricky Martin

Myra and Jørgen – Modern to “Helium” by Sia

Aslak and Marianne – Salsa to “Dancing Feet” by Kygo
