In June 2022, Shakira separated from Gerard Pique after discovering that he was having an extramarital affair with Clara Chia Marti, a 23-year-old student. Today, Shakira seems to want to change her life and definitely turn the page. For more than twelve years, the artist resided in Barcelona for the career of Gerard Pique. The latter played as a defender for the FC Barcelona club. “He wanted to play football and win titles and I had to support him. One of us had to sacrifice himself. It was either that or he broke his contract with Barcelona and moved to the United States with me,” she confided in the columns of “ELLE” American, last September.
Shakira changes her life
This Sunday, April 2, Shakira warned her fans that she was changing her tune. The singer announced on her Instagram account that she was leaving Barcelona: “I moved to Barcelona to offer stability to my children, the same stability that we are now going to seek in another corner of the world near my family, of my friends and the sea”, she wrote in the caption before throwing a final tackle at her ex: “Barcelona is the city where I learned that friendship lasts longer than love. Thank you to everyone who has been there to lift my spirits, dry my tears, inspire me and make me grow.”
For the moment, Shakira has not confirmed her new country of residence, but it is very likely that she will return to settle in the United States, in Miami.
After their separation, the singer and Gerard Piqué had to reach an agreement concerning the custody of their two children, Milan and Sasha. The artist won his case and therefore takes his two boys to the United States. According to several Spanish media, the footballer has some demands: his ex-spouse will have to pay him five trips a year so that he can visit his children.
