Bollywood’s King Khan took a break from acting for four long years when his much-anticipated, big-budget film Zero flopped at the box office. However, on January 25, Shah Rukh Khan left a small dent in the Indian box office with the name ‘Pathan’. It is now burning like fire. Pathan is becoming the biggest box office hit in the history of Hindi cinema.
The film collected Rs 832 crores globally in 12 days. This has been released by Yash Raj Films, the producers. 429 crore from India and 317 crore from overseas. In the Gulf countries, Pathan earned Rs 94 crore, surpassing Baahubali 2. Film trade analysts are reporting that Pathan has surpassed the collection of Baahubali in some foreign countries including Europe.
If this trend goes, the film may cross 1000 crores and make a new history in Bollywood. Dangal was the highest grossing film released in Hindi language till Pathan. Dangal is now trailing Pathan by a margin of Rs 100 crores. The Hindi version of Baahubali 2 earned Rs 802 crores globally. However, Baahubali was released dubbed. Meanwhile, the Hindi version of Baahubali earned Rs 512 crores in India alone. Pathan is said to surpass that too.
Other Indian films that have crossed 1000 crores globally are Dangal, Baahubali 2, RRR and KGF 2. Nitesh Tiwari directed Dangal is the biggest Indian box office hit considering the collections of the Chinese dubbed version. The film earned Rs 2,200 crore. Baahubali 2- 1810 crores, RRR and KGF 2 1200 crores each.
Shah Rukh Khan scored the biggest hit of all time in Bollywood with Chennai Express in 2013. Now, exactly a decade later, in 2023, he has done it again with another film.
