There are many moments of sheer beauty in Nobody Has To Know, and they aren’t just due to the wild splendor of Scotland’s coastlines. Bouli Lanners was well inspired to breathe fresh air for his new achievement, which turns out to be his most convincing and touching. A real romantic drama that begins with a stroke and the ensuing amnesia for a stranger on this Scottish island, who fled who knows what. His share of…

Two parameters are essential in the film, the music first since a large part comes from groups from the Isle of Lewis who scour the pubs, then the Isle of Lewis itself, the third main character in the story . And it’s not an empty word. This is the great asset of the film which thus stands out as a beautiful tribute to this region. Given the context, well helped by an evocative title, we expect a major twist, a …

A little disappointed with this film which still blows the wind. It’s pretty, chiseled and silent. But frankly we do not vibrate so much despite the sympathy that we a priori for the actors and the sublime harsh landscapes of Scotland. But the film insists too much on the pseudo suspense of the lie and not said that we guess from the beginning of the film. And the film forgets to deal better with the feelings, the flesh, the thrills. Shame.

On an island in northern Scotland, a middle-aged man of Belgian origin who works as a farm laborer is discharged from hospital after a stroke. His boss’s daughter tells him they had an intimate relationship before the stroke that caused him amnesia. The famous “positive” cinema magazine recommends this film in its April issue. I went to the theater, prompted by the article, thinking I was seeing a high quality film and I must admit that …

The project was born from a fantasy that Bouli Lanners has had since the early 2000s: to make a film in Scotland, a country he visits every year. The director explains: “I place a lot of importance on the settings and the landscapes, and I had the impression that there was something very powerful in those of the Isle of Lewis.” “So I had this desire to shoot there, but without having an idea of a scenario that would have given me the legitimacy

Isle of Lewis
The Isle of Lewis is a character in its own right in the film. A special place compared to the rest of Scotland where, given its remoteness from the rest of the country, the Gaelic culture remains very strong and tourism is underdeveloped. Bouli Lanners says: “It is also there that the Presbyterian Church is the most austere and the most present. It gives rhythm to social life, which gives it a special status and aspect: we have for example

Who for Phil?
Originally, Bouli Lanners was originally not to play the lead role. After various trials, the filmmaker had chosen Michelle Fairley but had not found the actor for the character of Phil. The director remembers: “We had to balance the couple: I didn’t want a glamorous couple, we had to find someone in their fifties, with a slightly different physique. We couldn’t find it.””Then the director of
