SG Handballers Secure Victory Against South Baden Rivals

The SG Handballers won their game against their South Baden rivals from Schutterwald with 36:31. TuS, who arrived as league leaders after two matchdays, kept the game open for a long time. After the start of the second half, however, the Eble seven decisively gained seven goals, from which the guests never recovered. Although the former Bundesliga club tried to score three goals again, the burden from shortly after half-time and the individual class of the SG squad weighed too heavily to allow the game to be overturned again. Next Sunday the Teningen team will have the top game at TSV Heiningen.

In terms of personnel, Jonas Eble was able to draw on full resources for the derby, apart from the long-term injuries. The “red devils”, who started the season with two wins, were brimming with self-confidence. Although the start went well for Teningen with an early 3-1 lead (5′), the devil of errors then crept into the game.
Schutterwald took advantage of the moment and took the lead at 3:4 (7′) after a 3:0 run. After a total of five goalless minutes for the hosts, Teningen’s top scorer Maurice Bührer broke the spell to equalize (4:4 10′).
Schutterwald remained in the game, but the 6-0 defense was now more compact again. Like last week, the beneficiary: Luis Ehret, who scored 10:8 (17′).
A break for the rubble forests should interrupt the Teningen updraft. Although Maurice Bührer failed from the seven-meter line, he subsequently scored from the field and Marco Ebner scored from the second wave to make it 12:8 (21′).
The guests’ attack continued to falter, which meant that Oliver Bührer was able to increase the score to 15:10 (24′) a little later. The gap didn’t increase any further until the break, with the result being 18:13 at halftime. In the last 14 minutes of the first period, TuS was only successful four times, which played into the Teningers’ hands.

The SG was wide awake after the break: two quick goals within a minute made it 20:13 and a seven-goal lead.
Time penalties for the SG helped the guests get back to within five points. Still unhappy in the first half, Adrian Volk revived Schutterwälder’s attacking game. The defense remained too passive and in the 44th minute we rubbed our eyes in amazement: 27:24.
However, after a timeout and two goals from Pascal Bührer, the hopes for away points were dealt a severe blow (31:26 50′).
The SG now controlled the game again and kept the TuS at a distance. He found no further means to make the game even tighter against the Teningers in their individual class.
The SG struggled to a hard-fought derby victory (36:31) against a courageous Schutterwälder team. Because of the successful start to the season, after the game there were not entirely satisfied, but still happy faces.

Preview:
Next week, the team around captain Axel Simak will play against the league leaders, TSV Heiningen, who are tied on points. The TSV has also not lost any of its three games and, like the SG, is currently 5:1 points. With Andreas Schaaf already having 28 goals this season and at least 32 goals in every game, Clement Gaudin and Fabian Hörsch have a challenging late afternoon ahead of them. The top game starts at an unusual time at 5 p.m. next Sunday. The next home game is on Saturday, October 14th at 8 p.m. against TSV Weinsberg.
