The kicker had already reported about it, now it’s official: SG Dynamo Dresden signed Robin Meißner from Hamburger SV. The 24-year-old striker, who was loaned out to Viktoria Köln by the Rothosen last season, has signed a two-year contract with the Saxons until the summer of 2025.

Meißner, who was born in Hamburg, came to HSV from city rivals FC St. Pauli in 2020 and was able to celebrate three goals in 14 second division appearances in the following two years. After a loan to Hansa Rostock (eight games, one goal), he impressed last year in Cologne with 17 points in 37 third division games (twelve goals, five assists).

Quote called Dynamo into action

A befitting rate that Dynamo brought to the scene. “Robin Meißner is an extremely versatile offensive player who can give our game great variability. He also embodies a high level of goal danger, which he impressively demonstrated several times last season as a player on loan at Viktoria Köln. We are convinced of it that he will enrich our attack with his qualities,” said sporting director Ralf Becker in a club statement.

“I’m happy to be able to play for Dynamo Dresden in the coming season and come with the clear goal of doing my part for promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga,” says Meißner himself. “Last season, as a guest, I got to know the incredible atmosphere in the Rudolf Harbig Stadium and I’m really looking forward to experiencing it at every home game.”

Contract with HSV dissolved

In order to enable Meißner to move to Dresden, his contract in Hamburg, which was valid until the summer of 2024, was previously terminated. “Robin approached us with his desire to change. This change can be exactly the right step for him and his sporting development,” explains Hamburg’s director of professional football Claus Costa. “That’s why we decided to take this step together. We wish Robin all the best and much success for his sporting path and his personal future.”

After Tom Zimmerschied (midfield, Hallescher FC), Tobias Kraulich (defense, SV Meppen) and Lucas Cueto (midfield, Karlsruher SC), Meißner is already the fourth external newcomer to the SGD. In addition, there is Kyu-Hyun Park, who is permanently committed by Werder Bremen, and Jan Sherbakovski, who has returned on loan. On the other hand, there are ten departures, with Akaki Gogia another could follow.
