Holger Scholze, President of SG Dynamo Dresden says: “2023 was a very special year for our sports community from several perspectives. First of all, I think back to the valuable projects and worthy celebrations surrounding the club’s 70th birthday. With numerous joint activities such as the first supra-regional digital fan meeting, dynamic city tours and interesting discussion groups, we brought our mission statement to life over the course of three months. For the grand finale, we experienced a huge coffee table in the AOK PLUS Walter Fritzsch Academy and a humorous birthday talk in the Schauburg on April 12th.
After a mixed first half of the season, our team got back on the road to success with persuasion, strong will and full commitment and was within striking distance of the promotion places after the 2-1 home win against Rot-Weiss Essen. The immediate return to the 2nd Bundesliga was within reach in the spring. But one evening in Meppen we saw clearly how cruel football can be. After the last game of the season against Oldenburg, it wasn’t just the thankless sixth place. Because with impressive determination, there was a solidarity brimming with confidence between the team and the fans in front of the K-Block, which had already grown inexorably in the previous weeks and was firmly cemented that day.
In the first half of 2023, a new cohesion emerged in our club, which in turn represents a crucial basis for achieving our sporting goals. The primal power of our sports community developed even more strongly during the outstanding first half of the current season, in which the Rudolf Harbig Stadium in particular finally became a true “fortress” again. For all of us, the clear focus should now be on consistently continuing on the path we have chosen in 2024 in order to be able to achieve the clearly formulated goal of promotion to the second Bundesliga next summer.
Scholze continued: “On behalf of the entire sports community, I wish all members, fans, friends, sympathizers, sponsors, partners, employees as well as the volunteer committee representatives and all other supporters a good start into the new year! Let’s continue to work together in a focused manner so that we can reap the first fruits next May. Lots of strength, joy, success and health for 2024!”
The SGD third division professionals will start preparing for the second half of the season on January 2nd. The team will fly to Belek (Turkey) for a nine-day training camp on January 3rd. The office team will be available again during normal business hours from Tuesday, January 2nd, 2024.
