“The Voice”: Dutch television format with worldwide success
The talent show “The voice of Holland” was conceived in 2010 by Dutch media mogul John de Mol. The program is one of the most successful entertainment programs of recent years. It runs in more than 100 countries and has won the prestigious Emmy Award in the US, one of the most important awards for a television program.
Two versions of the program can be seen in our country, on VTM and RTBF. The essence of the format is that the judges sit with their backs to the candidates during their “blind audition”. They choose to coach a particular candidate on their team, by flipping their giant chairs with the push of a button.
Those coaches are well-known artists in every country. The Dutch series that was currently shown on RTL included Anouk, Ali B, Glennis Grace, Waylon, Maan and Typhoon.
