A “sexually motivated” offender entered a woman’s East Village apartment in the middle of the night before getting into her bed with a womanin a “scary” event that residents have called “the scariest thing.”
Around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, the subject broke into the apartment near East 11 Street and Avenue A in Alphabet City and He tried to lie down next to the 23-year-old girl who was asleepthe authorities reported.
The woman woke up unexpectedly and saw the man who was next to her, which caused her to flee the scene on foot.. She was not injured in the incident, the New York Police Department said.
It was not immediately clear if the victim knew the man who had entered his apartment.
An employee identified as Bolbir Sing34 years old, who works at the Seven Eleven on the same corner, He immediately recognized the man as a frequent customer and occasional thief..
“Sometimes [él] comes to my store. Yeah, hang out there,” Sing said, pointing to the corner of East 11th Street.
“He comes with a group of four or five other people. “Usually, he arrives at night, around 7:00 pm. He sometimes steals beer and candy,” said the worker, adding that the last time he saw the suspect was last week.
Residents of the area were horrified to learn of the incident, some even have reconsidered living in the East Village.
“Oh Lord! That’s terrifying! How did he get in?! exclaimed Judith L, 26, originally from Vermont.
“I don’t know why there are so many crazy people concentrated in this small area, but I think we made a mistake coming here.”she noted, adding that she and her girlfriend had already been considering moving to Queens.
“They stole packages from me and yelled at me on the subway. I keep saying we have to move. This certainly lights a fire underneath,” she added.
NYPD officials released security camera footage of the suspect in question, who He is described as approximately 5 feet, 9 inches tall and about 170 pounds..
Agents say he was last seen with a blue hat, glasses, a black hoodie, a black and white jacket, beige sweatpants, and light-colored shoes.
