As she revealed in the 13th Chamber program, she became a victim of abuse at just 15 years old. She wasn’t too lucky in love either and went through several failed relationships.
Květa Fialová was one of our most popular actresses. Her role as Countess Thun in the audience favorite comedy Adéla has not dined yet is unforgettable. The actress lived with her parents in Slovakia until 1938, after which Slovak nationalists forced them to leave for Bohemia. She had a good relationship with her mother, but she was afraid of her father. “Father was strict, I was terribly afraid of him. I never even thought about him, I didn’t have a heart for him,” she explained. Although she knew that her father meant her no harm, she could never accept his approach to education.
She was raped at just 15 years old
At only 15 years old, in May 1945, Fialová experienced a terrible event. She was raped by a pair of soldiers who gave her a choice – either sleep with both of them or kill her. “It happened one night. Russian soldiers came in and suddenly I had a revolver to my head. I had to decide between death and shame,” she described in the already mentioned program.
Since then, young Květa has not been successful in love, and the terrible experience marked her relationship with men. “That was the fateful moment when it broke in me. Since then I openly say that I hate sex. It’s such a nuisance! I had an aversion to men, except for homosexuals. They are gentle and good people,” she confided in an interview for Prima Women website.
Her first husband was dramatist Jiří Josek, who demanded from her the fulfillment of marital duties. “It was wrong. I literally ran away from him. The husband was not a criminal, he just wanted to exist as a normal boy,” she described. She even ran away from him to the cemetery, where she lived in an abandoned morgue and slept in a coffin for several months.
She lasted with Háša until her death
A few years later, she got together with the actor Gustav Opočenský. Although it looked like great love at first, it didn’t happen. The actor fell into alcohol addiction, robbed the actress of her jewelry and deprived her of all her finances. She only managed to find happiness with director Pavle Háša, with whom she had a daughter, Zuzana.
“With us, it was about tolerance. We had freedom and freedom in our relationship. For example, I liked to travel, I had friends and I went to see them. And it was never a problem. We just had it that way and it suited us.” she bragged about their relationship. They stayed together for 52 long years, until her husband’s death.
Květa Fialová went to acting heaven in 2017 at the age of 88. She spent the last months of her life in the Alzheimer center in Průhonice in Central Bohemia. Due to health complications, she was transferred to Thomayer Hospital after a few months, where she died.
