San Francisco ∙ US activist Carol Lee (71), who coined the term ‘sex work’ and fought for the rights of sex workers, has died.
Born in New York City. When she was gang-raped while working in sex work in San Francisco, the movement for legal solutions to the problems of sex work began. She is famous as a writer and video artist. The term “sex work industry” was coined for a panel discussion at a feminist conference in 1978.
