(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Seon Hyeon-hyeon = The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family announced on the 2nd that it found 81 people last year as a result of checking whether sex offenders were employed at institutions related to children and youth.

43 workers have been dismissed, and 38 operators are closing down or changing operators.

If you are ordered to restrict employment for committing a sex crime in accordance with the ‘Act on the Protection of Children and Youth,’ you cannot work in a child or youth-related institution for a period of up to 10 years of employment restriction.

The head of a child and youth-related agency is obliged to make a sex crime background inquiry on the person to be hired, and if this is violated, a fine of up to 5 million won is imposed.

From March to December last year, the number of people subject to inspection by the Ministry of Leisure and Leisure was 3.41 million, an increase of 36,387 from the previous year. The number of people with a history of sexual offenses was 81, an increase of 14 from the previous year.

When looking at the total number of 81 people caught by institution type, sports facilities accounted for the most with 24 people, followed by private education facilities such as academies and training centers with 24 people, security corporations with 7 people, and PC rooms and arcades with 6 people.

The name and address information of the agency caught will be published on the Sex Offender Notification (e) site by May 31.

Meanwhile, under the current system, if a sex offender violates an employment restriction order, there is no punishment other than dismissal or request for institutional closure.

In order to solve this problem, the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family established the Act on Sexual Protection of Children and Adolescents within this month to establish penalties for sex offenders who violate the employment restriction order and to impose fines on institutions that refuse to submit data to confirm sex offenders. Some amendments to the bill will be made public.
