Sex offenders are at the bottom of the prison hierarchy – that’s a problem – Freiburg

Several sex offenders have been convicted in the Freiburg region in recent months. What happens to these perpetrators when they encounter a threatening hierarchy in prison?

Almost every week, sex offenders are sentenced to prison terms at the Freiburg Regional Court – in February, for example, a 47-year-old who abused two girls 101 times in a community in the Freiburg area, and a paramedic and youth trainer from the fire brigade from the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district, who passed on children. What happens to these perpetrators once the verdict is passed? What awaits them in prison?
