“Sex is a path”

Sexuality a pleasure? It is on this theme proposed by those responsible for family pastoral care that, on Sunday, about sixty people, engaged couples, who are preparing for marriage, men and women who have been in a relationship for several years, met at the diocesan house of the Visitation in Chartres to reflect on sexuality from a Christian perspective.

They were able to hear a teaching by the Bishop of Chartres, Monsignor Christory and the testimony of a couple on chastity.

“A kind of therapy”

Throughout the day, these couples took part in specific workshops, for engaged couples, for couples who are already married, and between men on masculinity, between women on femininity, on birth control.

Cédric and Tiffany, a couple for twenty years, have decided to get married this year. “This day was enriching, the routine is sometimes established in the couple. We had a lot of exchanges with the other households. We’re not alone in having the same problems, it’s a kind of couples therapy that has done us good. »

Gonzague and Mathilde, married for ten years, were called by the preparation team to give their testimony, which allowed them to review the path taken, to see the weaknesses and, also, the means to move forward.

“We accepted because we had greatly appreciated the testimonies and discussions on sexuality and, today, it was up to us to share our experience. »

Chloé and Denis have been married for thirty years: “We came to this meeting because sexuality is a path and you have to be nourished by the testimony of others and by teachings. »

About fifteen teenagers were also invited to this day and attended an interview entitled “The word of the church, still current?”.
