Häg-Ehrsberg community has corona-related financial problems.
In the municipality of Häg-Ehrsberg – as in other cities and municipalities – the household situation has deteriorated significantly due to the corona. The municipal supervisory authority in the district office approved the total amount of credit authorizations of 725,000 euros and possible cash advances of 600,000 euros for the municipality when it examined the submitted budget. However, according to the will of the Lörrach supervisory authority, the municipality must present a consolidation concept for the 2022 budget.
In the required budget structure concept, the administration should present concrete measures on how the financial situation of the municipality can be sustainably improved. The municipal supervisory authority suggests, for example, that the fee rates for property taxes A and B be increased. With regard to the fees for water and wastewater, the municipal council has already decided to adjust the fee rates.
The only major construction project planned in the community is the conversion of the sewer system in Häg from the current mixed system to a modern separate system. The 110-year-old water pipe will also be renewed. The total costs are set at around 2.6 million euros in the financial budget; due to the weak budget situation, financing can only be guaranteed through borrowed funds – i.e. grants and loans. Overall, the municipality is expecting subsidies of 1.9 million euros for the sewer renewal including the associated restoration of paths and roads, although only around 1.1 million euros have been approved so far. A loan of 725,000 euros is planned for the remaining financing.
