Sevilla

Sevilla have a target at the last second the transfer market. Is Gunnersaurus, mascot Arsenal, which is being targeted.

The transfer market deadline ends on Monday (5/10/2020) local time. Many European clubs are busy bringing in or selling players before deadlines.

From Italian League, Premier League, until Spanish League, clubs then announce new recruits or players released. The spotlight then focused on Arsenal.

This summer, Arsenal has become a busy club. The Gunners recruited Willian from Chelsea, Pablo Mari from Flamengo, to the newest one is Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid.

However, Arsenal are also in the spotlight for releasing their most important figure. Trained club Mikel Arteta it apparently announced that Gunnersaurus will no longer be its mascot.

Gunnersaurus itself is the club mascot who usually stands on the edge of the Emirates Stadium field. The dinosaur mascot, which has been around for 27 years, is no longer employed by the club.

The reason is that Arsenal are tightening their belts due to the corona pandemic. And Gunnersaurus must be victims, including Jerry Quy, who is the figure behind the mascot.

Arsenal’s decision to dismiss Gunnersaurus was considered absurd, especially since the club ultimately chose to bring in Thomas from Atletico. As a result, the North London club was criticized by many parties.

One of the striking insinuations was made by Sevilla. The Spanish League club tweeted on social media that they wanted to sign Gunnersaurus from Arsenal.

This was announced by Sevilla at the end of the transfer market. Shortly thereafter, last season’s Europa League winners announced the arrival of the Gunnersaurus.

“A dream come true. Welcome @ Gunnersaurus,” Sevilla tweeted on social media, complete with a photo of Gunnersaurus wearing the Sevilla jersey, no longer wearing the Arsenal shirt.

Arsenal fans themselves strongly criticized Arsenal’s dismissal of Gunnersaurus. They also flocked to create a fundraiser to save the dinosaur mascot who has been in the club since 1993.

Not only fans, several celebrities also regretted Arsenal’s attitude. Starting from the famous presenter Piers Morgan to British legend, Gary Lineker, lamented his departure Gunnersaurus.
