Sevilla announced this Saturday the departure of Diego Alonso from the team’s technical command, minutes after the home defeat against Getafe (the third in a row).
«Sevilla announces that it has fired Diego Alonso as coach. The club thanks the Uruguayan coach for his services and wishes him good luck in the future”, the note reads.
Diego Alonso, it should be noted, arrived at Seville at the beginning of October, to succeed José Luis Mendilibar: in around two months, he recorded only victories – both for the Copa del Rey –, seven defeats and five draws.
Sevilla are out of European competitions – they finished last in the Champions League – and are only 16th in La Liga.
