Sevilla discards Marcao and Januzaj in its list for the Champions League
After the recent closed signings of Mariano, Soumaré and Sergio Ramos, Sevilla have been forced to discard two players from their current squad for their Champions League A list. The Brazilian Marcao and the Belgian Januzaj have been the players sacrificed by Mendilibar for the group stage of the top continental competition.
The return of Sergio Ramos, the prodigal son, to Sevilla has several very positive aspects. The first, his level, which continued to be very high at PSG last season; the second, his power to attract a club that still lacks a main sponsor; and the third, his status as a youth squad.
Of the current squad, only Jesús Navas met the UEFA conditions to be considered as such. That is, having played a minimum of three years between the ages of 15 and 21. Now he is joined by Camas, so there have finally been 23 first-team footballers who have been able to register the Nervión team for the group stage of the Champions League.
One of the two discards has been Januzaj, who is still looking for a destination after the agreement for a new loan to Basaksehir broke down. The other, the center-back Marcao, whose injury history does not give any confidence in the coaching staff. In fact, he is currently injured and without a fixed date to recover.
Without them two, the 23 registered are the following:
Goalkeepers: Dmitrovic and Nyland.
Defenders: Jesús Navas, Badé, Sergio Ramos, Nianzou, Gattoni, Pedrosa, Acuña.
Midfielders: Fernando, Gudelj, Soumare, Joan Jordan, Sow, Oliver Torres, Rakitic, Ocampos, Suso, Lekebakio, Lamela.
Forwards: Mariano, Rafa Mir and En-Nesyri.
To these footballers we must add those who appear on list B, which can be modified before each match, and which includes, among others, goalkeepers Alberto Flores and Matías Árbol, full-back Juanlu, center-back Kike Salas or Manu Bueno , homegrown players under 22 years of age. Only two of them could be summoned in each match.
