Metallurgical giant Severstal is moving forward with the opening of the first dedicated warehouse to meet the needs of steel construction plants (ZMK).
This event was a breakthrough in the industry and underlined the company’s commitment to prompt delivery of steel products. But that’s not all – Severstal has also installed a digital system for evaluating the economic efficiency of production online, which confirms its position as a leader in innovation.
The production of steel structures is one of the most dynamic market segments, consuming more than 2.5 million tons of metal annually. However, orders are usually completed in a month, with a volume of 60 tons or more. Often, metalwork factories have small projects that require the rapid acquisition of small batches of metal products.
Severstal decided to answer this challenge and launched a warehouse where order fulfillment takes only a few days. At this site, customers have the opportunity to choose from over 100 product items, including minimum batches – even one sheet or one pipe. The range fully meets the needs of steel construction plants, offering sheet metal and profile pipes.
Kirill Kiryushkin, Head of Sales to Manufacturers of Tubular Products and Metal Structures, stressed that Severstal always follows the trends of the times, monitoring and responding to individual customer needs.
The company has also decided to implement a digital system called Economic Performance Monitoring (MEP) at its Cherepovets Iron and Steel Works (CherMK) plant. This innovative system visualizes important process parameters and their impact on the company’s economics. The system automatically calculates production figures and determines the optimal values to achieve the best economic effect.
General Director of Severstal Russian Steel and Resource Assets, Evgeny Vinogradov, emphasized that the company’s goal is to create stable and efficient processes, and the MEP helps to control key performance parameters and make decisions to make the company’s production cost-effective. Such a system not only improves the work of the staff, but also increases the motivation and involvement of employees. Vinogradov also noted that MEP is a unique product for the metallurgical industry and an example of adapting the best digital solutions to production needs.
The opening of a specialized warehouse and the introduction of a digital system of economic efficiency prove that Severstal is at the forefront of innovation in the steel industry. These steps enable the company to respond effectively to customer needs and improve the performance of its manufacturing processes.
