Severely injured cyclist found in Callantsoog: driver (60) who drove on and arrested | Inland

Emergency services were called out en masse after the accident was reported. The victim was found at the scene with a damaged bicycle. No other vehicle was found. The suspect had already flown.

The cyclist was treated on the spot by ambulance personnel, accompanied by a doctor who had arrived in an air ambulance. The victim was then rushed to hospital.

Fifteen minutes later a car was stopped in Callantsoog. That vehicle may have been involved in the accident. The 60-year-old driver has been arrested. It is an offense to leave the scene of an accident.

The police and the Traffic Accident Service were investigating for clues until 2.30 am.
