In the early evening there were already the first heavy thunderstorms, for example in Krefeld and Mönchengladbach. According to the WDR weather studio, 19 liters of rain per square meter fell in Krefeld alone within ten minutes. “Absolute heavy rain“, says meteorologist Jürgen Vogt. The shower and thunderstorm cell is now on its way towards Münsterland. The districts of Wesel, Borken, Coesfeld and Steinfurt are on the train track.
The fire brigade in Meerbusch reports that they are currently “doing everything they can”. A “short but strong storm” moved over parts of Meerbusch around 6 p.m. Passers-by should watch out for loose branches in trees.
According to the Zuginfo.nrw portal, a tree fell on the route between Krefeld Hauptbahnhof and Meerbusch-Osterath. Train journeys are currently not possible. A replacement bus service has been set up on the section between Neuss Hauptbahnhof and Krefeld Hauptbahnhof.
