RALEIGH, North Carolina.- This Christmas Eve they are expected heavy rains, winds and even possible tornadoes. The North Carolina Department of Public Safety and Emergency Management (NCEM) reported that severe weather is expected.

As reported by NCEM in a press release, it is likely that the electric storms develop at noon and early afternoon. Because of this, the rains could cause coastal flooding in eastern North Carolina.

“The westernmost areas in the metropolitan region of Triad y Charlotte they are under a slight risk (level 2 of 5) and a marginal risk (level 1 of 5) due to severe weather today ”, added the authorities of the State Emergency Department.

Similarly, NCEM explained that the most likely region for tornadoes to develop will be the east of the I-95 corridor this afternoon until early Friday morning.

As for the rains there is a flash flood warning for Henderson, Macon, South Jackson and Transylvania counties through this afternoon. Other parts of North Carolina could collect up to 3 inches of rain.
