Dear mdw members!
Due to the current severe weather situation in many parts of Austria, we would like to fulfill our responsibility towards you as university management and inform you about the planned procedure for Monday, September 16, 2024 and Tuesday, September 17, 2024:
We would like to expressly point out that your personal safety and dealing with the disaster situation have priority. Please therefore only come to the mdw if it is absolutely necessary.
The following applies:
1. All colleagues who are directly affected by the disaster (flooding, flooded basement, etc.) are of course exempt from duty on Monday and Tuesday.
This also applies to colleagues who have to support family members as part of disaster relief, provide help to neighbours or are involved in voluntary work (fire brigade, rescue service, federal army).
In this case, we ask you to contact your supervisor directly to discuss the next steps.
2. All colleagues are requested to work from home as much as possible and to inform their superiors of this. This applies in particular to colleagues who commute from the federal states or those who are affected by the failure of the subway or public transport in Vienna.
We ask colleagues for whom home office is not possible or whose presence is required for professional reasons but who are unable to come to the university due to the situation to contact their superiors directly.
3. From today’s perspective, the mdw campus, Anton-von Webern-Platz 1, will be open tomorrow, Monday, September 16, 2024, from 8 a.m. The opening of all other locations cannot be guaranteed at this time. We will keep you informed here on the mdw website.
I ask all OU managers and institute directors to set up a journal service if possible and to at least ensure that they can be reached by telephone.
On behalf of the Rectorate, I would like to express my condolences especially to all mdw members who have been directly affected by this storm disaster.
Best regards
Ulrike Sych
