LEBAK, RADARBANTEN.CO.ID – The severe weather and rainy season that hit Lebak Regency is a serious warning to the public to be aware of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF). During 2024, between January and August 1, 2,371 cases of dengue fever were recorded with eight people dying. This figure has increased significantly by 212 percent compared to 2023, which reached 760 cases with four deaths.
The chairman of the Lebak DPRD, Dr. Juwita Wulandari, has asked the public to increase awareness about the spread of dengue fever, which has increased significantly this year. “The public must be aware that dengue fever occurs in extreme weather like it is now. In addition, dengue fever in Lebak has increased significantly. “Of course we have to be careful about this so that the cases of dengue fever at the end of the year will be reduced,” said Juwita, Sunday, October 20 2024.
As part of prevention efforts, the PDIP politician asked the people of Lebak to re-invigorate the 3M Plus (Drain, Close and Recycle used goods) movement. According to Juwita, the Clean Friday (Jumsih) movement she launched will only be effective if it receives support from all elements of society. “Cooperation in maintaining a clean environment is the key. “Fog is not the main solution to eradicate dengue fever, only to break the chain of mosquito transmission,” he said.
According to Juwita, the Acting Head of Lebak Health Service, Dr. Budhi Mulyanto also emphasized the importance of maintaining environmental cleanliness in the middle of the rainy season. He has instructed 43 heads of community health centers and health workers in villages to actively communicate the elimination of mosquito nests (PSN) to the community. “PSN needs to be increased, especially in the rainy and transitional seasons, because high water increases the number of breeding places for mosquitoes that spread dengue fever,” explained Budhi.
His party continues to work out the importance of a clean and healthy living behavior (PHBS) to prevent an increase in dengue fever cases. “The cleanliness of the environment, especially after rain, is an important point in eliminating the Aedes aegypti mosquito. “Cleaning areas that have the potential to become mosquito nests must be done at least once a week,” he said.
