Residents of Texas and Florida were surprised by strong gusts of wind and huge hail the size of tennis balls during the last nights, this being only the beginning of a system of instability that will extend in the region until next Saturday and that will affect various entities in the southern United States, according to weather forecasts.
The National Weather Service of the United States (NWS, for its acronym in English) warned that the bad weather will continue and detailed that “severe weather with potentially large hail could occur again near the east coast of Florida, as well as in the south of Texas”.
Giant hailstones affect Florida and Texas
On Wednesday alone, the NWS received about 60 reports of hail balls up to 4.5 inches in diameter falling, while in Florida a piece of about 2.5 inches was reported in the Antonhy community, according to with information revealed from CNN.
One of the most affected areas was in the town of Dublin, in Erath County, Texas, where authorities reported that huge hailstones wreaked havoc in the city and numerous reports of broken windows.
For its part, the NWS has asked the population to be prepared for what it described as an “active and complicated weather pattern that will cause bad weather conditions in the eastern two-thirds of the United States during the next two days.
