Offenbach (dpa/lhe) – In Hesse, people have to arm themselves against wind and rain. The German Weather Service (DWD) wrote in the morning that there could be gusts of up to 65 kilometers per hour on Thursday. In high altitudes, gusts of 80 kilometers per hour are likely in isolated cases, and gusts of up to 90 kilometers per hour cannot be ruled out in exposed mountain locations.
Since many trees are still leafy and the ground is currently quite soggy, it cannot be ruled out that trees will fall over the course of the day, said a DWD meteorologist. In the afternoon the situation gradually calmed down. According to the DWD, the gusts will be accompanied by showers. The temperatures reach highs of 12 to 14 degrees and in the mountains it is 9 degrees.
On Friday there is rarely any rain, the DWD wrote. In the afternoon hours the sun also shows up a little. The temperatures are a maximum of 7 to 11 degrees and at high altitudes 5 degrees. There will also be a moderate, at times very gusty wind.
It will rain again in Hesse from Saturday afternoon at the latest. Temperatures rise to highs of 9 to 12 degrees and in high altitudes to 6 degrees. There will also be a moderate, partly fresh wind, with strong to stormy gusts. The DWD also expects squalls in higher mountain areas.
