Severe Thunderstorms and Heavy Rain Expected in New York Today

NEW YORK — This Wednesday is a good day to bring out the umbrella.

This is because after a good start to the day with a sunny morning, the weather is expected to change to heavy rain due to an approaching frontal system, the Weather Authority said.

This system could even bring some severe thunderstorms that will continue into the early evening. Storms will begin to develop around noon and continue into tonight, with gusty winds and hail the main threats along with isolated flooding as storm cells progress.

The rain should end after 7pm, with clear skies overnight.

Lots of sun and temperatures in the 80s are expected for Thursday. However, the rain will return on Friday with the possibility of a few thunderstorms continuing into Saturday, but hopefully not sticking around for Father’s Day, which is still looking good with partly sunny skies and 80 degree temperatures.
