Severe Storms in US Leave at Least Four Dead: Flight Cancellations and Delays Soar

Inclement weather in the US has left at least four dead in states like Arkansas, Indiana and Georgia.

In the United States (USA) more than 6,000 flights were canceled or delayed this Monday due to strong storms that hit the east, southeast and midwest of the North American country.

The National Weather Service (NWS), for its part, warned that weather conditions will remain unstable until Tuesday or Wednesday in some areas; which can also cause flooding, mainly in the eastern United States.

According to data from the flight tracking portal FligthAware, some of the airports most affected by the storm are located in the New York City area; they are those of La Guardia, Newark and John F. Kennedy.

Likewise, Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, which serves the city of Atlanta, and O’Hare, in Chicago, are considered to have similar effects.

Of the airlines that have registered the most cancellations or delays are United Airlines, with 29 percent of flights affected; as well as Republic, with a 23, and Endeavor Air, with a 16.

It was also known that the inclement weather has caused at least four deaths in the states of Arkansas, Indiana and Georgia, where tornadoes were also recorded. While in Ohio, severe storms have affected the electricity of some 400,000 homes and businesses.
