The rains flooded freeways and also impacted Metro North rail service, forcing service changes for this morning’s rush hour.
On Monday morning, the state’s Homeland Security and Emergency Services division posted a message on social media about the latest weather.
“Continued moderate to heavy rain is expected to cause widespread flash flooding in areas of eastern New York today and tonight.
“Ontario and Orange County are in a state of emergency due to major flooding.
“Stay alert. Follow your @NWS local for up-to-date forecasts,” the message read.
