The heavy snowfall today left dozens of settlements without electricity and imposed restrictions on some of the country’s roads.
In the Haskov region, 13 settlements remained without electricity. Of these, 11 are in the municipality of Ivaylovgrad and two – in the municipality of Stambolovo, where accidents occurred in the afternoon that cut off the power supply to eight villages.

Electricity has been restored in seven villages in Mineralni Bani municipality and one in Haskovo municipality.
As of 2:00 p.m. today, 11 settlements were without electricity in the district.
In the Loveska region, seven settlements are without electricity. Due to accidents, the village of Stefanovo in the municipality of Lovech, Apriltsi, as well as the Trojan villages of Cherni Osam, Terziysko, Shipkovo, Beli Osam, Balabansko are without electricity.
The Shipkovo – Ribaritsa road is closed due to fallen trees that prevent snow removal.
Since yesterday, it has been closed to all motor vehicles and Troyanski Prohod.
30 cm is on the snow cover of the Shipka pass. The snow has not stopped for more than 20 hours. Temperatures are below zero, there is a strong, sometimes stormy wind.
The roadway has been cleaned and sanded. 10 specialized machines are in continuous operation. The “Shipka” pass is currently open to traffic, but under winter conditions.

Earlier, the mayor of Sofia, Vasil Terziev, announced that the roads to Vitosha are passable and prepared for cars with chains, and the buses to the mountain are currently not running.
Crews have removed 11 fallen and dangerous trees.
Terziev pointed out that currently 145 snow plows are on standby around Sofia. With the beginning of the snowfall, since last night, processing began in Sofia in the areas of Vitosha, Ovcha Kupel, Pancharevo, Bankya and Southern Rainbow, where the snowfall was stronger. There, the routes of the city transport, steep sections and bridges, as well as the Southern Arc, have been treated. The mayor added that due to the expected drop in temperatures at night, anti-icing treatments will be carried out where necessary.
