“Severe penalties for the organizers of the flow of migrants, who blatantly violate the law of the Republic of Latvia for greedy purposes and illegally transport unidentified persons, are a tool to strengthen the security of the state and society. I would like to emphasize once again that there are militarily aggressive countries next to Latvia, which are currently developing a hybrid threat against us, so any kind of cooperation with the regimes of Russia and Belarus will be assessed and punished accordingly. The changes in the Criminal Law envisage both more severe punishment of those who violate the law, as well as preventive measures to deter them from committing criminal offenses.”
