Severe lung pathology was found in those who recovered from COVID

In post-ocular syndrome, there is difficulty in the transfer of gases by the blood

People who continued to complain of shortness of breath after suffering the coronavirus showed difficulty in the transfer of gases in the blood.

In patients with postocular syndrome, a difficult-to-diagnose pathology of the lungs was revealed – a difficult transfer of gases by the blood. This is stated in the preprint of the study, published on the website of the Oxford Center for Biomedical Research. NIHR.

36 volunteers took part in the scientific experiment, among which 13 people were healthy. It is emphasized that some of the patients in whom COVID-19 was mild continued to complain of shortness of breath several months after recovery.

“With the help of magnetic resonance imaging using hyperpolarized xenon gas, it was possible to establish a significant violation of gas exchange in patients with long-term COVID-19 who were not hospitalized (11 people – ed.), while all other studies went well “, the publication says.

The authors of the study emphasized that conventional examination methods, including computed tomography, did not reveal any abnormalities in patients.

The scientists concluded that the consequences of the identified anomaly are unknown, which requires further research in this area.

Earlier it was reported that in Italy scientists have identified a new type of COVID – the so-called Omicron-2.

It became known which two COVID-symptoms are absent with Omicron
