This Sunday, February 4, a severe local storm was recorded in Havana, which left several effects in various areas.
In images that were published on social networks, it can be seen that there was multiple damage after the fall of trees, power lines and roofs in the 10 de Octubre municipality and in Playa.
The heavy rains accompanied by gusts of wind left destruction on the streets and scattered debris, which limits mobility and vehicular traffic.
The severe local storm caused panic among the residents of the Cuban capital.
At the moment, the exact damage caused by the natural phenomenon is unknown.
“Reports are arriving of the occurrence of a possible severe local storm in the 10 de Octubre municipality in Havana. This event is associated with the transit through our country of an active line of storms that precede a cold front,” wrote meteorologist Frank Fernandez Castañeda.
No details have been released if there was any collapse after the meteorological event and if any injuries were reported.
The Havana Electric Company reported that its personnel are working to restore electrical service in the affected areas.

For its part, the telecommunications monopoly in Cuba, ETECSA, assured that its brigades are deployed in Havana and are working to resolve damages caused by the passage of the prefrontal.
“Remember not to interact with the cables fallen on the ground,” the authorities warned to avoid tragedies.
The meteorological service had closed maritime traffic in the west of the country due to adverse weather conditions.
