Three cars collided
A severe accident with casualties and injuries occurred in the area of the 9th km of Pazardzhik highway near Plovdiv, before the junction for the village of Kostievo. The signal for the incident was received around 1:10 p.m.
According to initial data, three cars collided. A 72-year-old man died on the spot, and three women were taken to St. George’s Hospital.
The worst case is of a 69-year-old woman with life-threatening injuries to her chest and abdomen, as well as a fracture of two ribs. She was in the car with the 72-year-old driver who died on the spot. The woman is currently undergoing surgery.
The second woman is 35 years old. She has a fracture of the radius and ulna. And the third has multi-fragment fractures of two ribs.

“Until the inspection is completed and the reasons and circumstances that led to the road accident are clarified, the traffic in the section is difficult,” the Ministry of Interior told NOVA.
Police teams are redirecting cars on detour routes.
