Several tourists injured after traffic accident in Trinidad

A traffic accident that occurred this Friday afternoon on the Circuito Sur highway, on the border between Trinidad and Cienfuegos, left ten tourists injured, including some French and Russian nationals, as well as three Cuban citizens.

The official newspaper Escambray specified that the injured were first treated at the General Hospital of Trinidad Tomás Carrera Galindo, until the ambulances of the Integrated Medical Emergency System arrived to transfer the injured to the largest care center in Sancti Spiritus.

The director of Public Health of the Trinidad Municipality, Dr. Luis Sáez, reported that three of the patients are reported as code red, while a Cuban citizen presents head trauma and multiple fractures in the right arm, with muscle tear and great vessel lesions.

Sáez indicated that the other two tourists also had serious injuries, one of them had a bone-muscular tear in his left hand and the other a simple head trauma.

Tourists were going on an excursion when they suffered the traffic accident

It should be noted that the rest of the injured foreigners presented minor injuries and “without danger to life.”

According to the information provided by the Party secretary in Trinidad, Denis Díaz Peláez, the tourists were going on an excursion to the city of Trinidad on a Transgaviota bus.

The accident occurred after the driver lost control of the vehicle, trying to avoid the friction of a tanker car.

The aforementioned official media outlet affirmed that, after the traffic accident, medical personnel, authorities of the Party, the Government, organs of the Ministry of the Interior of Trinidad and the National Revolutionary Police (PNR) attended the scene.
