Several tornadoes were reported Sunday in Mississippi and Tennessee, where they left damage with no reported injuries so far.
A front of strong storms swept through the state Sunday afternoon and overnight. At the last minute, a “tornado emergency” was declared in and around Tupelo. Meteorologists urged the population to seek shelter.
“Damage has been reported in the city of Tupelo,” the mayor’s office said in a Facebook post shortly before 11 pm “Emergency crews are assessing the extent of the damage. Please don’t go out and drive. “

Local media had also reported tornadoes near Yazoo City, Byram and Tchula. The National Weather Service in Jackson shared several images of funnel-shaped clouds in different parts of the state.
