Several thousand people have gathered in the center of Vilnius to protest the restrictions of Covid-19.
The event is organized by the Lithuanian Family Union, which opposes not only the mandatory wearing of masks in schools and various restrictions on the unvaccinated, but also the initiative of same-sex couples to register their relationship, as well as the ratification of the Istanbul Convention.
In view of the violent protests that took place a month ago, the Seimas building is now fenced on all sides and guarded by police.
The forces and equipment of the Public Security Service are also deployed. Strict security measures are related to the possibility of provocations.
CONTEXT:
This rally takes place just a month after a similar protest to the Seimas, which was then violent riotsby blocking the Seimas building and involved in clashes with vaccination opponents. Later, the Lithuanian Prosecutor General Nida Grunskiene said that among the organizers of the riots there are also repeatedly tried, some of them – even 14 times.
