Several thousand people in Georgia continue to demand new parliamentary elections / Article / LSM.lv

On November 14, several thousand people took to the streets of the Georgian capital, Tbilisi, to gather in parliament to demand new parliamentary elections.

In the parliamentary elections held at the end of October, the ruling Georgian Dream party won a majority in parliament, allowing it to form a new government. However, the opposition leader, former President Mikheil Saakashvili, who currently lives in Ukraine and chairs the country’s working group on political and economic reforms, Volodymyr Zelensky, has said that the “Georgia Dream” has massively falsified the election results and called on opposition supporters to mobilize.

International observers have also acknowledged that the elections were far from perfect. This is not the first time such protests have taken place. Just a week ago, police had to use tear gas and water throwers against protesters.
