Several pro-Russian motorcades announced today

Pro-Russian demonstrators are once again driving through German inner cities. Several hundred people are expected to attend the controversial rallies. Interior Minister Faeser calls on the police to take strict action.

This Sunday, pro-Russian demonstrations are planned again in several cities – including motorcades. In some cases, wearing certain symbols has been banned in advance. Because at similar rallies, the so-called Z symbol was recently seen, which is supposed to express support for the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine.

Larger pro-Russian rallies are expected in Hanover and Frankfurt am Main: The motorcade planned in Hanover could, with 900 participants announced, top the largest motorcade in Berlin to date – in Frankfurt around 2,000 people have been announced for a demonstration. A car parade had been banned by the local authorities in the Main metropolis. Counter-demonstrations have also been registered in both cities.

There should also be smaller rallies on Sunday: smaller motorcades are also expected in Osnabrück and Lörrach. On Saturday, 190 cars took part in a pro-Russian motorcade in Stuttgart. Larger rallies in Bonn and Berlin had already caused a stir and criticism over the past weekends.

Domestic politicians call for a strict approach to pro-Russian demos. “Showing the ‘Z’ glorifies war crimes and can therefore, in our opinion, be prosecuted. We need consistent police intervention here,” Interior Minister Nancy Faeser (SPD) told Welt am Sonntag.
