Several people with hearing problems after illegal fireworks at the Weert fair

Eight people suffered hearing problems due to fireworks being lit at a fair in Weert. reports the police.

The person who allegedly set off the fireworks has been arrested. It is about a 25-year-old man from the Sittard-Geleen area.

The firework piece exploded after the firework display closed at the fair. The police confirm that the fair’s legal fireworks display has nothing to do with the firework display that was later canceled and caused hearing problems.

Police are not reporting how the eight people who have hearing complaints are doing and whether their hearing damage is permanent. The eight victims have reported to the emergency services, it has only been shared.

The police are making further inquiries and are asking witnesses and people who may have hearing damage to come forward.
