Several Passengers Trapped on Line 7 Train Due to Incident Inside the Rails – NBC New York (47)

About 500 passengers aboard a Line 7 train had to be moved to another subway in Queens on Saturday afternoon, the MTA confirmed.

According to the Fire Department, at about 5:24 pm, units were assigned to the fire station area. Vermon Avenue and Jackson Avenue due to reports of a fire that was identified inside the subway tunnel. About 12 units and 60 members of the Fire Department were at the scene.

The incident generated the power cut of the affected subway tracks.

Line 7 service was suspended between Hunters Point Avenue and 34 st-Hudson Yards, the MTA announced on Twitter. This is because they are clearing debris within the remaining lanes near Grand Central.

The last stop on the 7 trains bound for 34 St-Hudson Yards it will be Hunters Point Av or Queensboro Plaza. The MTA asks customers to consider taking a train on the E/F/N/R lines for service between Queens and Manhattan.

The cause of the incident and further details have not been released.

The case is under investigation.
