With a few weeks to go until the release of the PlayStation 5 is there, Sony is behind the scenes with an awful lot of things at the same time. This week we got to see the user interface, firmware update 8.00 was rolled out and we can also expect a new PlayStation Store in the short term.
That’s not all, because various older PlayStation 4 games turn out out of nowhere to have had an update. These include first-party titles such as God of War III Remastered, PlayStation VR Worlds, Marvel’s Spider-Man, Astro Bot: Rescue Mission, God of War and Blood & Truth.
Almost every changelog contains “Bug fixes” that do not really make us any wiser. However, some of the titles haven’t had an update in years and the timing is therefore quite striking. It looks like Sony is preparing their games via updates for the backwards compatibility of the PlayStation 5.
At least that’s the only reason we can come up with. Unfortunately, the patch notes do not provide further details, but Sony may come with more explanations soon.
