On Sunday morning (24th), a 28-year-old man drove at extremely high speed with a black BMW, one of which was missing a window, on the field paths in the area of a farm in the Alsbach-Hähnlein district and thus attracted the attention of witnesses drawn.
One of the courageous witnesses unceremoniously blocked the suspicious driver’s path with the help of his agricultural machine. His subsequent attempt to escape on foot ended in a field. With the help and combined strength of other residents, the suspect was held until the alarmed police arrived.
During his subsequent inspection, the law enforcement officers discovered several inconsistencies. Not only that the arrested person had clearly agreed to alcohol with two per thousand, it also became apparent that the black BMW had previously been stolen in Ludwigshafen, that the car had not been allowed to operate due to unstamped license plates, and that the arrested person was also not in possession of a driver’s license. When the car was searched, the law enforcement officers also found tools and a bag with groceries.
Here it turned out that the objects could be linked to a break-in into the building of the dog sports club in Weilerstrasse, apparently committed a few hours earlier.
There, the criminal allegedly pried open the main entrance door and stole food. The 28-year-old was provisionally arrested and taken to the police station. This was followed by the recording of the advertisement and the taking of blood samples.
After paying a security deposit of 500 euros ordered by the Darmstadt public prosecutor’s office, the suspect was released. In the future, he will have to answer criminally for burglary, driving without a driver’s license and under the influence of alcohol, among other things.
