(CNN) — Voters in four states who had filed impromptu lawsuits to try to undermine President-elect Joe Biden’s victory, and who failed to get to anything concrete in court, dropped their cases Monday morning.
The cases were short-lived in federal courts in Georgia, Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania, and were incorporated into a legal strategy in favor of President Trump. It is believed that the initiative almost certainly will not block Biden’s presidential victory before the Electoral College formalizes it.
The lawsuits were the same and all were backed in Michigan and Pennsylvania by the law firm of nationally known conservative attorney James Bopp Jr. The cases had also gone hand in hand with those presented by the Trump campaign.
The announcement that voters are dropping their lawsuits comes three days after a federal appeals court said voters couldn’t file some constitutional claims, essentially closing the way Pennsylvania voters wanted to file their lawsuit.
