Shortly after midnight, most of the more than 70 residents, who had to leave their homes due to the fire and the heavy smoke, were able to return to their accommodation. Five houses are not habitable for the time being. The residents of those homes are housed elsewhere.
A dog was also killed in the fire. Rescuers have tried to resuscitate the animal, but to no avail.
Wednesday evening the raging fire raged in the residential complex on St. Helena Bay. The fire broke out in a ten-storey house on the first floor of the building. The fire was quickly under control, but because there was a lot of smoke, residents of the complex had to leave their homes.
