The police were notified of the accident at 4.45pm on Sunday afternoon.
– There are five people involved. The incident took place on a stretch at high speed and there is talk of a heavy collision, says police operations manager Stian Aalberg to NRK.
Children among the injured
Both cars were completely damaged after the collision which took place between Meråker center and Teveldalen in Trøndelag.
All those involved have been transported to St. Olav’s hospital in Trondheim.
– There are different degrees of damage to those involved.
One of those involved was a child, but this is not among those seriously injured.
– The child has been transported by helicopter to St. Olavs together with relatives who were involved in the accident, says Aalberg.
Starts investigation
The police have carried out technical investigations at the scene of the accident and seized both cars involved.
– Furthermore, we have questioned and taken blood samples from the drivers who were involved. We have also interviewed witnesses who saw the accident or who came to the scene soon after, says Aalberg.
According to Aalberg, driving conditions were challenging with snow and ice on the road at the scene of the accident.
E14 was closed for several hours after the accident, but reopened at 7pm on Sunday evening.
The cause of the accident is not yet known.
