ALGIERS – Mass demonstrations were organized over the past two days across several European cities to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the proclamation of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, and at the end of which the participants reiterated their position in favor of right of the Saharawi people to self-determination.

The associations representing the Sahrawi community established in Spain in coordination with the solidarity movement and the representations of the Polisario Front, organized various demonstrations through the cities of Madrid, Seville, Galitha, Zaragoza, Bilbao, Murcia, Las Palmas, reports Sunday l Sahrawi press agency (SPS).
The festivities commemorating the 45th anniversary of the proclamation of the SADR were marked by the organization of rallies and sit-ins in solidarity with the Saharawis in the occupied territories, targets of the “hysterical repression” of the Moroccan occupation forces .
These solidarity actions were punctuated by the presentation of traditional paintings which highlighted the authenticity and the distinction of the culture of the Saharawi people, in addition to the organization of photo exhibitions, as well as the animation of meetings of awareness raising on the latest developments in the Western Sahara conflict.
The demonstrations were also marked by the intense participation of members of the Saharawi community and members of Spanish civil society in solidarity with the Saharawi people, as well as by a strong presence of representatives of Spanish political parties, trade unions and activists of the human rights.
In France, the Place de la République in the French capital Paris, hosted, on Saturday morning, events and activities in which Sahrawi associations and French solidarity associations participated.
The protests included many activities. Communications highlighted the developments of the Sahrawi question on different fronts, as well as a theatrical performance on the abuses and brutal practices to which the Sahrawis are subjected in the areas occupied in the hands of the Moroccan occupying forces.
The celebrations commemorating the 45th anniversary of the proclamation of the Saharawi Republic which took place across European cities, were continued with messages of solidarity with the struggle of the Saharawi people, with the Saharawis in the occupied areas and with all political prisoners. Participants in the protests sent messages to the international community and the European Union to work seriously and contribute to the implementation of international legality through the organization of a free and fair self-determination referendum that will end the occupation in Western Sahara.
In Aousserd, in the Saharawi refugee camps, the festivities commemorating the 45th anniversary of the SADR, took place against a background of increased international solidarity with the Saharawi people who are fighting for their right to self-determination and in a context marked by victories diplomatic torn up by the Saharawi people.
