Concerned about critical labor shortages, several European countries are shortening the quarantine period for infected and contact persons

Greece is the first country in Europe to announce a five-day quarantine of infected people instead of the current 10 days.
Elsewhere in Europe, just before Christmas, a seven-day isolation period was set for infected people in the UK.
Spain and Ireland have also just reduced the isolation period to seven days out of 10, while Italy has just lifted quarantine for contacts if the person has been vaccinated.
France will also reduce the number of quarantine days required for fully vaccinated contacts from Monday, 3 January.
Recently done in the US study analyzed how long people were infected with the coronavirus and found that the average time to get infected was 5.5 days for vaccinees and 7.5 days for non-vaccinated people.
The study, which has not yet been peer-reviewed by professionals with equivalent qualifications, peer-reviewed) examined the infectivity of alpha and delta Covid-19 strains. The study was performed before omicron became the predominant form of Covid-19.
